The Library Building in Serang District does not meet national standards.
Places that are not strategic, buildings that are less extensive, and book treasuries are still not the main obstacle.
Responding to this, the Head of the Library Division at the Serang Regency DPAD, Budi Heri Mulyati, said that when referring to national library standards for the district level the number of library collections must be at least 0.025 per capita multiplied by the number of residents in the Serang Regency area.
"Meanwhile, the new Serang District Library Service has library materials totaling 12,863 titles which should have 37,500 titles," he said when contacted by the Banten news agency RMOL on Wednesday (4/7).
"If we refer to the library's national standard for the Serang Regency level, we still do not meet standard standards," he added.
But Budi said behind all that, the Regional Library of Serang Regency must be proud because the target of library visitors and data during 2017 reading interest in Serang Regency was around 86 percent.
"Based on the data we obtained from each reading interest activity through the mobile library (pusling) the community is aware of the importance of reading," he explained.
This was explained by Budi, as evidenced by the request for counseling from every school, village and sub-district and the crowds of visitors who read books through the driving car itself.
